Colorado Rapids at Galaxy

| | Comments (0) |

Joe Cannon is back in goal for the Galaxy after being rested against Real Salt Lake, while Ty Hardin has recovered from injury to rejoin Abel Xavier in the center of defense. Chris Klein and Mike Randolph are the full backs. Troy Roberts, of course, is suspended after getting sent off against Real Salt Lake.

With Landon Donovan away on national team duty, Cobi Jones gets a rare start in midfield alongside Kevin Harmse, Pete Vagenas and Kyle Martino.

Edson Buddle and Alan Gordon get the starts up front again, while Carlos Pavon is on the bench (again). Also a sub: 16-year-old Izzy Sesay. That's either a sign Sesay has looked good in training or Coach Frank Yallop is getting desperate.

Two changes for the Rapids from the team that drew 1-1 with the Crew last Sunday: Terry Cooke recovers from injury to replace an ill Pablo Mastroeni in midfield, while Herculez Gomez gets a start up front in place of an injured Conor Casey.

The game is on Fox Soccer Channel.

Updated: Just to rub it in for the Galaxy, former forward Nate Jaqua broke out to score a hat trick today for Houston in its 4-3 win over Real Salt Lake.

Chicago also won 1-0 over Columbus, which means the Fire leap frogged over Colorado and the Crew for the eighth and final playoff spot.
