the mid-1980s and in 2000 permanently exchanged a seat
in the stands for one in
the press box. He lives six miles from Carson's Home
Depot Center, home of the Los Angeles Galaxy, Chivas
USA and the training headquarters for U.S. Soccer.

The score was largely irrelevant, but the amount raised for charity wasn't: the final figure will be more than $90,00 with 5,543 in attendance.
David Beckham came off in the 83rd minute to loud applause, presumably having clinched his place in the next England team.
Pete Vagenas scored off a volley in the second half straight from a Beckham corner kick, Newhall's Mike Caso got a brace, including one from another Beckham assist.
Chris Klein also scored two goals, while Canadian Kevin Harmse ran through the United defense with an individual effort to make it a dozen goals for the Galaxy.
