Tuesday’s Column & a Poll

The last week has seen a heated global debate over a proposal to play regular season English Premier League games overseas, including the U.S.

Read this week’s column for my take and the opinion of local players, then take the poll.

Comments welcome.

Should the EPL play regular season games overseas?
Sounds splendid. When do tickets go on sale?
Don’t be daft. Have EPL officials lost their collective tiny minds?
Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.

Updated: And the debate rolls on.

Good set of links with reaction, etc., on that page, too.

I don’t see it as a bad thing, ya the majority of American leagues are doing it, why not European futbol leagues? They know very well there is a market just about anywhere in the world because just about everywhere else in the world watches the EPL, La Liga, Serie A, etc., etc.

It’s just a matter of how it’s done and dealt. Doing it at the beginning of a season would be great or after the winter break.

I remember a couple of years back Club America and Chivas had a friendly against each other at the Coliseum with Chivas USA and the Galaxy playing before them. The stadium was filled to the 90,000 capacity and both games were great (since both Chivas teams lost).

It’s worth a shot if done in the right circumstances.
