One game into the season and the Galaticos are already falling. From the Galaxy press release:

LA Galaxy forward Carlos Ruiz underwent arthroscopic surgery this morning to repair a slight tear of the meniscus in his right knee. Ruiz suffered the injury, as well as a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL), late in Saturday night’s loss to the Colorado Rapids in the Galaxy’s season opener at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Galaxy team doctor Dr. Bert Mandelbaum performed the surgery today in Santa Monica and Ruiz is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks.

Ruiz, who is the second leading scorer in club history, returned to Los Angeles in January via a trade with FC Dallas. The 28-year old Galaxy forward led the club in goals this preseason with three while playing in all three games of the club’s Asia Tour 2008. He suffered a team-high four fouls in Saturday’s game, the last of which knocked Ruiz out of the game and led to a red card for Colorado midfielder Ciaran O’Brien.
