Scott Wolf looks at the adjustments overseas players have to make in MLS from the perspective of the Galaxy's foreign contingent.

Dunno about you, but Abel Xavier's criticism of the tactical awareness of U.S. players might hold more water if he could still, y'know, play defense.

In a related story the L.A. Business Journal tallies the Beckham numbers.

Finally, columnist Kevin Modesti lists the 40 biggest sporting events from a Southern California perspective.

He concedes there's room for argument, so let's start a few.

The MLS Cup is ranked lower (No. 40) than the WNBA finals (No. 39)?

The Champions League and European Championships (No. 37) are ranked lower than mixed martial arts bouts (No. 33)?

And the World Cup (No. 29) is ranked lower than the Little League World Series (No. 25)? Are you kidding me? The buzz generated locally by the World Cup in 2006 in a nation of immigrants was lower than little kids playing what is essentially cricket on steroids?

What do you think?
