U.S. Women’s Olympic Team, um, Gamenight

The U.S. Men’s Olympic Team apparently walked in the Olympic opening ceremonies Friday (although I didn’t see them and it just ended), but the women were otherwise engaged with their second group game against Japan in about two hours (live at 2 a.m. on USA).

Said Torrance Olympian Shannon Boxx after watching the ceremonies on TV (like we did):

“I thought the beginning was amazing. All the people that it took to make it happen, and how all the performers were so in sync, was just unbelievable. Seeing all the countries come into the stadium makes you really appreciate being a part of this.”

The U.S. is unbeaten in seven games against Japan (four wins, preceded by three ties). The U.S. needs to win if they hope to advance out of the group.

The U.S. is bottom of their group.
