Youth Soccer: A Tale of a Naughty Boy and a Good Lad

The naughty boy is one Carlos Martinez, a reportedly supremely talented former San Pedro resident, punted from the U.S. Under-17 Academy in Bradenton, Fla., for repeatedly breaking the rules. His family is moving back to the Harbor Area – and Chivas USA and the Galaxy are among those interested in the wayward teen.

The good lad is Galaxy prospect Tristan Bowen, who may become the first youth developed by an MLS team to make the jump and sign a pro contract.

And look who’s standing next to him in the picture. Bowen may also be among the first Alexi Lalas signings to pan out.
