Tuesday’s InterLiga Column & More

Pachuca became the first team to qualify for the InterLiga finals with a 1-0 win Monday night over Toluca in Houston; Tecos also beat Morelia.

Details here.

Club America faces Tigres, while Chivas plays Atlas tonight in Frisco, Texas before the tournament heads to Home Depot Center Thursday, Friday and Sunday.

Plenty of tickets are still available. Those needing a tournament primer should read my column that ran today.

In other items of note today:
*David Beckham is apparently out of today’s AC Milan friendly in Dubai because of a slight muscle strain. Ooops, organizers sold more than 17,000 tickets presumably large on the strength of a Beckham appearance in a game sponsored by “His Highness Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.” (try saying that fast more than once).

*The Galaxy are again holding open tryouts next month and a chance at a pro career is a mere $150.

More than 400 players participated last year, which means the Galaxy pocketed over $60,000. Is this an opportunity or a lesson in exploiting faint dreams?

*Oh, and the Galaxy checked in Monday with the less than surprising news that Landon Donovan is officially on loan to Bayern Munich through March 8. Unofficially, of course, he doesn’t want to come back.
