Saturday Soccer: Galaxy's Donovan Goes Full 90 in Bayern Debut & More

Today's "this is the off-season?" news:
*Landon Donovan supplied the assist for Bayern Munich's equalizer today in a friendly played in Dubai and was one of only two players to play the entire game for the Germans in a 3-2 win.

The Bayern Web site observed Donovan almost had a goal and described the assist as "an intelligent pass into the inside-right channel," which sounds exactly like a Donovan created goal.

More here.

*David Beckham though will start on the bench Sunday in his first Inter (doh!) AC Milan Serie A game. The encountwer with Roma is live at 11:30 a.m. on Fox Soccer Channel.

*Lastly, the InterLiga final four for Friday is set with Club America feeling foolish/appearing over-confident/ or ? (take your pick because sadly I was not at the game Friday in Carson) as they crashed out of the tournament thanks to a second half stoppage time goal against Atlas.

Details here.

Precious few tickets are left for the two games Sunday that begin at 4 p.m., incidentally. Only $20 general admission tickets on the grass berm or $125 lawn chair seats next to the sideline are available.

Highlights of the Club America-Atlas game are here:

Nick,
I watched both of the InterLiga 2009 games played at HDC on TV. They were both exciting, intense games. Atlas simply wanted to dominate and pursue to win a lot more... plus, it seemed to me that the squad that America fielded may not have played together all that much? Not sure? Chivas G had so many young players that were quick, explosive, and played offense and defense for a full 90 minutes. Hence, the final scoreline of 4-2. Tigres had two or three players that were good; but, Chivas G just ran them ragged.

I think you meant David Beckham is on the bench for his AC Milan debut, right? Not Inter Milan...

Anyways, keep informing and updating us - we appreciate it very much.

Nick replies: And I thank you for the InterLiga report (I do not have the Spanish-language sports tier on my DirecTV either). I'm definitely not missing seeing Sunday's games in person.

And thanks for catching the error of the day - before a Milan fan caught it!
