*U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati will fill reporters in on the federation’s bids for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups on a conference call in about an hour. I’ll have more on that in Tuesday’s column.

*Meanwhile, Mexico’s squad to face the U.S. in next week’s opening World Cup qualifier of the final round was named and is the subject of (some) amusement and (much) criticism.

* And the final Gold Cup entrants were decided Sunday.
