Galaxy Statement

Here's the Galaxy official statement regarding David Beckham.
"Today's deadline imposed by Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber regarding a resolution of David Beckham's potential transfer to AC Milan has passed and we did not receive an acceptable offer for the player. As a result, David remains an LA Galaxy player and we look forward to having him back with the club starting March 9."

This will be Beckham's last season in L.A. and in MLS. Forget any ownership ambitions he might have; he'll excercise his escape clause and not look back. Why? Because he saw what Leiweke's all about first-hand and he doesn't want to be associated with such a #$%&*@.

This is all about the "Beckham Money Machine" and who he can extract the most money from.

He'll be doing it all over again in November when his GALAXY contarct expires. Whoever wants him will have to top the $50-million dollars a year that he sill stands to make if stays in the MLS.

Joseph D'Hippolito said:

Ed, if Beckham can leave on a free transfer, then the Galaxy gets nothing. AEG and MLS want to ride the "Beckham Money Machine" for one last go-round before they lose him forever. Even if Beckham gets booed in every MLS stadium, they'll consider it well worth it.
