Chivas USA Roster Update

Not much news out of the Chivas USA camp today in terms of player additions or subtractions.

Chivas USA has 22 players under contract, two shy of the maximum number of 24 (no more than 20 senior players and four developmental) all MLS teams are required to be at by today.

They have four five other players still in camp who are as yet unsigned and remain on trial with the team: Venezuelan defender Leo Batista (a pick-up from the Galaxy, who cut him from their camp); veteran Mexican forward Eduardo Lillingston; draft pick Jamie Franks; once and perhaps future Chivas USA player Dan Gargan and midfielder Diego Scotti (Chivas USA PR staff initially overlooked him).

Lillingston had a hand in two of the four goals Chivas USA scored Sunday against the PDL Ventura County Fusion in Santa Clarita, while Franks also had an assist.

Chivas USA, regular readers will recall, also expect to have a couple of first-team players from mother club CD Guadalajara on the roster by opening day.

Updated: The 22 are – Jonathan Bornstein, Justin Braun, Bobby Burling, Jim Curtin, Alecko Eskandarian, Jorge Flores, Maykel Galindo, Atiba Harris, Ante Jazic, Dan Kennedy, Sacha Kljestan, Michael Lahoud, Jesse Marsch, Gerson Mayen, Paulo Nagamura, Lance Parker, Ante Razov, Carey Talley, Shavar Thomas, Zach Thornton, Lawson Vaughn and Sasha Victorine.

For the whereabouts of defender Raphael Wicky, check the posts from later today.
