Poetic Justice? Beckham Injured Training With Milan Today

No, I’m not giggling.

But what if he was out until, say, Julyish? Just wondering.

MILAN (AP) — David Beckham hurt his right ankle during practice with AC Milan on Tuesday, although the injury does not appear serious.

The Italian league club said it will evaluate the former England captain over the next few days. Milan plays at Siena on Sunday.

The injury comes three days after Beckham extended his loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy through the end of the Serie A season.

AC Milan’s season ends May 31. Beckham will be available for England’s two World Cup qualifiers in June before taking a few weeks off and rejoining the Galaxy on July 1.

The injury to the 33-year-old midfielder is the latest to hit Milan.

Kaka said Tuesday he won’t return until his foot pain subsides. The Brazilian was injured Feb. 7 in a Serie A match against Reggina.

Striker Marco Borriello — last season’s Serie A scoring leader while on loan to Genoa — and midfielder Gennaro Gattuso are also out. Ronaldinho, Clarence Seedorf and Massimo Ambrosini are not fully fit.

Meanwhile, Becks will talk with ESPN’s Hannah Storm at 6 a.m. Wednesday on Sportscenter, in one of his first U.S. television appearances since the loan agreement was extended. You can be sure it will be re-shown often.
