Sky Blue FC 0 Sol 2

A double strike by Brazilian star Marta two minutes apart gave the Carson-based Women's Professional Soccer team its first road victory in New Jersey this afternoon pushing its league-leading record to 2-0.

"I was very happy with our performance today," said Sol Coach Abner Rogers. "To come back and play a very different style than we had to last week and still come up with the result we did pleases me a great deal."

Here's the Sol PR staff on the two goals:

"In the 42nd minute, Marta put the Sol ahead 1-0 after splitting two defenders inside the box and putting her off-balance shot inside the far post for her first WPS goal. Marta then doubled the visitors' lead to 2-0 in the 44th minute when she tapped in a cross from Chinese front-line mate Han Duan

A capacity crowd of 6,053 saw the game.

Next for the Sol is a 1 p.m. Sunday, April 19 game at Home Depot Center against FC Gold Pride (Bay Area).
