U.S. Open Cup Update: Rapids at Galaxy at Half Time

Galaxy 0 Colorado 0

Slips and gaffes sums up this one (and that's just the ref, who unnecessarily left Colorado at 10 men in the 36th minute).

Debutant Greg Berhalter almost flubbed a ball to let in the Rapids' Jacob Peterson, but the striker was unable to capitalize in the 31st minute.

Peterson had the best move of the night, getting in behind the Galaxy defense with a pacy run, only for Ross Schunk to blast over the bar even though he had time and was wide-open about 12 yards out.

Not much else to report, although Van Nuys youngster Tristan Bowen did get a head on a 6th minute Jovan Kirovski corner that sailed over the bar.

Landon Donovan is in the club suite, so he's not going to help matters tonight; Alan Gordon is the extent of the Galaxy's out and out attacking options off the bench, BTW.
