Wednesday World Cup Qualifying Gameday
Since I'm not in Nashville, site of the U.S.-Trinidad & Tobago World Cup qualifier, it's one of those days where I'm far more interested in watching soccer than blogging about it, especially with a tricky 4:30 p.m. kickoff (live on ESPN2) that requires TiVo and staying away from all things soccer-related.

*Here's the view on the game from a Trinidad & Tobago perspective.

*The rumor mill has this guy heading to the Galaxy, which begs the question: are they planning to replace a 37-year-old defender (Tony Sanneh) with a 35-year-old one?
*CONCACAF will announce the three four-team groups and schedule of games at 9 a.m. Thursday for this summer's Gold Cup set for July 3-26 in 13 U.S. cities.

I can't see Berhalter "replacing" Sanneh at this stage in the season, but I can see somebody else on the roster getting their walking papers.
I just hope Bruce steers away from the recent Galaxy tradition of trading away youthful talent to bring in aging veterans.
Berhalter and Sanneh as a centerback combo = 72 years between them.
That's a scary thought.
Nick, two things. First, and perhaps most importantly, Berhalter hasn't been away from high-level competition for at least year because of an injury. Second, he's played in a physical league in Europe the past three years; Sanneh hasn't, so Berhalter should be better able to adapt.
Besides, if the Galaxy needs to make this deal, they likely would have to get rid of Sanneh, Miglioranzi or Griffin, since Berhalter probably makes more money. Yes, I know Griffin is injured but that hasn't stopped the Galaxy from waiving people before.
