Galaxy 1 New York 0

The Galaxy prevailed for their first win of the season, not because they were better than New York, but because the Red Bulls were more inept than them.

Landon Donovan was again the difference for the Galaxy, having a hand (or at least a New York hand) in the winner from the penalty spot after Seth Stammler handled in the area. Donovan has now scored four and has three assists; the Galaxy has a total of seven goals on the year.

But on the whole this was disjointed stuff; it will be interesting to see how much encouragement the Galaxy derive from the positive result. They face Real Salt Lake Wednesday in Utah. I’ll blog from the game.

But at least the Crew are now the only team in the league without a win. The Galaxy are now 1-1-4 and face Real Salt Lake in Utah Wednesday.

Chivas USA, BTW, have just beaten San Jose 1-0 to move to 6-1-1 and remain atop the league.
