Game basics.

Full disclosure: I was not there.

Were more than a few hundred spectators there?

Anyone who was care to leave a report in the comment section?

Was it better than a Torrance City Council budget hearing? (Which is where I was).

IVE SEEN A MUCH BIGGER CROWD AT A CITY MEETING. IT WAS BORING AT SOME POINTS. THE ANGEL CITY BRIGADE WERE OUT OF THEIR MINDS FOR A TUESDAY. AND THE RIOT SQUAD WAS NON-EXISTANT. OVERALL, WE WON A GAME!!!

Nick replies: Thanks for the update.

First off, Buddle is starting one of those hot streaks that forwards get on... or as they say in the UK, "Good form." He scored a nice one to the lower left corner of the goal from distance. Bruce needs to play him as much as possible until Donovan returns.

Anyway, the game was one of those weird experiences where the HDC staff actually outnumbered the fans. I was stuck in line at the entrance for like 10 minutes as the ticket-taker had trouble scanning some dude's ticket.... like anyone last night was trying to sneak in! Also the ushers in each row were checking tickets EVERY time I walked down my row. Call me crazy, but wouldn't it be better to just close off some sections and allow everyone to sit on the sidelines?

Anyway, the Angel City Brigade was VERY impressive last night and the Galaxy got to play with what would have been a reserve squad game.

I was there, in the GA section. I wouldn't say the game was boring, it seemed fast at times and then it would slow. Buddle's goal was a good one. Jordan was close on one but just offside. (If we had the same ref that gave Toronto the goal it would have counted;) It was nice to see the guys that haven't had much playing time get a run, and also to see some of the trialists play. Not many people were there but it was a Tuesday night, and Lakers NBA final game and if there are any NHL fans game 6 was on last night too. I had fun though!

Nick replies: Thanks for the game report.

Yes, indeed, props to the Angel City Brigade for bringing the passion for 90 minutes. There were about 500-1000 people in the stands.

The play on the field was ragged, but not nearly as horrible as the US Open Cup game against Colorado.

Edson Buddle showed his quality throughout the whole time he was on the field, about 65 minutes. Redhalter as well. Bryan Jordan continued to be his live-wire self, including on sequence down the left side of the field where he was tackled to the ground not once, not twice, but three times (last time was a foul).

The season ticket holders I sat with thought that Paterson did a great job being creative and active in the midfield, but I thought that he was often out of position, held the ball way too long in most cases, dribbled into trouble, and essentially became a turnover waiting to happen. He did have one very good pass to Klein in the last 10 mimutes that almost became a goal. His is fast, I'll give him that.

Clem Haskins on the left was thoroughly forgettable, according to me. Again the people I was sitting near thought he added a dimension of speed that was necessary for the G's to get to the next level. I'm not convinced, however, that's he's the guy to do it.

Fearrington seemed adequate, but not better than Delagarza as right back. Fred Murray? Murphy? Some guy who has a 1950's sit com name played centerback for 20 minutes and didn't make any mistakes. Faster than Tony Sanneh. Not better than Gonzalez or Redhalter.

Josh Saunders still not inspiring as a keeper. Can we get Zach Wells off the waiver wire?

Nick replies: Excellent stuff there, thanks, Nathan.

I'm glad to hear that they won. Thanks for the game report guys. I wasn't able to watch it.
