Final: New England Revolution at Galaxy

Galaxy 1 Revs 0

The lowest ever Galaxy crowd for a July 4 game in club history – 20,609 – watched the now 4-3-9 Galaxy notch a second consecutive 1-0 home victory with their defeat of the 4-5-4 Revs.

This rather undistinguished game took until the final eight minutes or so of second half regulation time to approach the excitement of Alecko Eskandarian’s eighth minute goal in his first game for the club after signing him from Chivas USA Wednesday.

The last minutes of the game saw the Galaxy almost give up a penalty when A.J. DeLaGarza looked to have impeded Nico Colaluca, require the most spectacular Josh Saunders save of the night to ward off an equalizer and nearly had substitute Chris Klein notch a second with a far post header from just five yards in the 82nd minute.

More later.
