The Galaxy are desperate for goals.

Oft-injured Chivas USA forward Alecko Eskandarian, who has scored just six goals in 18 games since joining the club from Real Salt Lake in January 2008, was traded today to intrastadium rivals the Galaxy.

To make room for the 26-year-old forward, the Galaxy waived midfielder Josh Tudela who has played 23 games for the club since being selected in the 2007 SuperDraft. Chivas USA received allocation money and a conditional pick in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.

"This move allows us greater flexibility in terms of our roster and salary budget," said Chivas USA Coach Preki.

Eskandarian, the 2004 MLS Cup MVP when with DC United, has 28 goals and 12 assists in 122 games during his seven-year MLS career. He has two starts in seven appearances this year and is eligible to make his Galaxy debut on Saturday against New England.

Here he is in a Galaxy uniform today.

And Alan Gordon is still with the team? Sheesh!

wtf

we could have gotten rid of Kirovski or Sanneh for example...

old injury prone in > young guy out = way to go bruce

Correction, he's not that old (I looked in the wrong line) however unless he ships out Kirovski or Gordon what do we need him for?

There is Donovan, Buddle, Magee, Gordon, Kirovski, Jordan, Bowen and now Eskandarian.

If healthy, Alecko is an updgrade over Gordon as a starting forward.
Kirovski and Magee are mainly depth options when Landon and Beckham are on international duty. They are both more utility players than out and out forwards/strikers.
Tudela won't be missed much. He is an average player akin to a less effective version of Kovalenko.

Gordon misses 5 goals per game... watch him next game and count the missed opportunities/goals.

Very Sad day for Chivas USA fans Nick.

Death to Hamilton & Preki NOw

Count the number of mistakes Tudela makes in a game, and you won't find many. Bruce just never trusted him like he does 'his boys' (but he's relied on him to cover as many as 3 players simultaneously in a game.) He also has the ability to go forward, but seldom allowed. He looks average because he's making everything look easy, but he's actually one of the most effective players on the field when given the opportunity. Too bad Bruce was too paranoid to provide that.

Why are Gordon, Jordan, Kirovski and Miglioranzi still in MLS? There were plenty of guys to cut before the young Tudela. McDonald, Boateng, and now Tudela? Can't Arena bother to look outside of MLS???

Another old, MLS has-been. Perfect for the has-been that is Arena.
