Chivas USA 0 Galaxy 1

These two teams' seasons are heading in opposite directions.

The Galaxy have now reeled off three straight 1-0 wins; Chivas USA have lost three straight.

That's going to happen when your best chance on goal was a sliced deflection by the Galaxy's Mike Magee of a Chivas USA shot that required a fine save by Josh Saunders in the 60th minute.

This is minimalist soccer by the Galaxy, too, who are doing just enough to win, but frankly I'm sure Coach Bruce Arena won't care.

Chivas USA were impotent more than the Galaxy were, um, studly shall we say.

But the Galaxy are steadily closing the gap on Chivas USA and now trail them by just three points.

BTW, the 23,409 on hand was Chivas USA's biggest crowd of the season.

More later.
