Saturday Chivas USA Gameday

Between the U.S.-Honduras WCQ and fighting female soccer players I haven’t been paying a whole lot of attention to this game.

That’s unfair because it’s a big game for Chivas USA and their playoff aspirations, while a win would also likely kill off the Wizards’ post-season hopes for good. But I’m also assuming that’s exactly what will happen.

Here’s the preview in today’s newspaper in it’s entirety that sums up the game from reporter Phil Collin:

Wizards (8-11-8) at Chivas USA (12-9-5)
7:30 p.m. Home Depot Center
Swag: The first 10,000 fans through the gates receive a free soccer ball.
TV: 8 p.m. (delayed) Prime

Chivas could move into a first place tie with the Galaxy and Houston in the Western Conference and clinch a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive season. Kansas City, on the verge of elimination from the post season race, will be without defender Jimmy Conrad and Chivas USA will be missing defender Jonathan Bornstein – both are with the U.S. National Team for WCQ. With its surprising 2-0 road win over D.C. United last weekend, Chivas USA extended its modest unbeaten streak to four matches. Chivas USA has shut out its opponents in five of the last seven games. New acquisitions Jesus Padilla (midfielder) and Maicon Santos have been effective weapons.

No blogging from me tonight; I’m playing hooky across the street at the Off-Campus Pub taking in the U.S.-Honduras game.
