Stat of the Night

(From ESPN2)

David Beckham, very active for the second consecutive game he has played, has 46 touches tonight, twice as many as Landon Donovan.

Beckham is having another exceptionally good outing, combining well with LD and generally springing a goodly number of Galaxy attacks.

LD should have done better in the 55th minute when Becks put him through the defense again though. LD cut inside and left C.J. Brown in his wake and screwed his shot wide.

About 25 minutes left in this one.

Since Beckham is a midfielder and Donovan is a forward, then, yeah, I'd expect Beckham to have more touches on the ball than Donovan.

I agree. But given Beckham's disinterest last season it's good to see confirmation he's actually prepared to contribute, work and spark attacks now. The stat is more evidence of the best two games Beckham has played in Galaxy colors in his most recent pair of matches, no?
