U.S. Qualifies For World Cup

Honduras 2 U.S. 3

Game story.

Former Galaxy striker Carlos Pavon proved once again why he failed so abysmally in MLS, missing a crucial penalty in the 87th minute for Honduras that sealed the U.S. win. And then he missed another sitter two minutes later.

Still, it looked to me a legitimate Honduras goal was called offside.

An exciting game that had me bouncing between tweeters Beau Dure of USA Today, Steven Goff of The Washington Post, SI's Grant Wahl and US Soccer in the first half and then three pirate Internet TV channels (I found out about one of them on Facebook) in the second half. US Soccer's MatchTracker went down early on so that wasn't much help. One of the more interesting US qualifiers from a technological point of view.

Conor Casey had two goals and the Galaxy's Landon Donovan nailed the other from a set piece. Check it out below.

More game highlights (for now) are here.

Bradley, come out to improve on the quarterfinal finish from '02 in '10, or face my vote of no confidence.

Thanks for the video links, Nick. You're a prince.

Donovan's free kick was one for the ages. On the other two, I have to admit I didn't think Conor Casey had it in him.

Bradley finally came to his senses and made some personnel changes due to "Dead Weight" Dempsey being out and paid off with inserting Casey and Holden in the line up. Good job by the team, but Davies should have made the score 5-2!? Did anyone watch ESPN's announcement of the US win? They interviewed Tommy Smyth with having "The Concacaf Gold Cup" sign on the TV screen behind them and continuously posting "US TIED WITH HONDURAS 0-0 AT HALF TIME" as Breaking News on the bottom of the screen, What a JOKE!!!! That shows you how IGNORANT and how much US media cares about US Soccer but come on ESPN, you're supposed to be the only network that carries the US games. Well not all of them apparently.

Nick the OCP was Rockin you should of just came down and watched the game there. Place was packed with US Supporters and went nuts after every goal. One of the Best nights i've ever experienced as a ussoccer fan. Big ups to the OCP and the galaxy for setting this up.

Great, great name Dudeinho!

So Brasilairo LA. fanFUTBOLtastic. El Dude of LA Phil has nothing on you.

Must have been one hell of night for your guys out there. Now let's make sure we create that same atmosphere in person when the boys play in LA next time. I'm tired of LA being an away game for them. They deserve more.
