Thursday Kicks: WPS Announces Home Openers & More
Except for the Sol and expansion Atlanta Beat, that is.
Women's Professional Soccer play begins April 10, two weeks later than the start of the inaugural season in hopes of warmer weather and to avoid playing on the Easter weekend.
The opening game on Fox Soccer Channel's WPS Sunday package will start at 3 p.m. April 11 with the 2009 WPS Champion Sky Blue FC (NJ/NY) hosting the Chicago Red Stars.
Info on the Sol home opener will be announced "soon," league officials said; the full WPS schedule will be released in February.
Also:
*England's Everton has said the loan deal for the Galaxy's Landon Donovan is all but done. And I don't care what Galaxy Coach Bruce Arena says about no permanent transfer for Donovan away from the club: if Donovan is a massive success with Everton - or at the World Cup - he's gone. And probably will have more negotiating power to boot because of his improved MLS contract.

Morales wont be heading to Chivas USA, due to Family not wanting to move to the states.
If I were a Fire (Tom Soehn) or DC United (Curt Imawful) as the candidates to take over my team would not exactly inspire me to unrestrained heights of ecstatic season-ticket re-uppery. Marsch, even without experience, would be better.
If Marsch goes, I will miss seeing him try to break Goldenballs leg ...
Donovan is not going anywhere no matter what happens at Everton. He just wants to get that monkey off his shoulders for peronsal pride more than any stupid questions marks bestowed on his career by the Euro snobs. He rules MLS and has a legacy to complete.
He's just going to the arm pit of English futbol, no glory at Everton. He was just determined to make my MLS off season interesting. He shoots, he scores!
The big fish rules the small pond, and even then shakey rests the crown, considering the paltry return in silverware he has paid the Galaxy. `
