Halftime: Galaxy-Chivas USA

Galaxy 1 Chivas USA 0

A frenetic first half that had its moments, but in truth tapered off after the first 25 minutes or so.

Indeed, the stats say the Galaxy had one shot on target (and Chivas USA none) and, of course, the Galaxy scored on that effort.

The near post header by Buddle was a deft one and it would have been easy to smack it wide, but now the streaky Buddle has a modest streak going with goals in the first two games of the season (last year he had all of five goals).

There were moments of passion, too, if you consider three yellow cards – to Saragosa, Buddle and Birchall – being awarded within eight minutes an illustration of that.

The teams are back on the field for the second 45 minutes, there’s no changes for either side.
