Galaxy & Chivas USA Saturday gameday

I should probably have just used the headline MLS gameday since all 16 teams will take part in eight games today, a league record.

Chivas USA are at home against the Red Bulls in a 1 p.m. game at Home Depot Center (live on Prime), while the Galaxy game in Houston against the Dynamo is delayed until 10 p.m. on FSN.

Game basics here.

In other news related to today’s game in the South Bay where Chivas USA is trying to avoid a 0-3 start, while the Red Bulls want to extend their record to 3-0:

*Red Bulls Coach Hans Backe has traveled with the team after his recent surgery.

*Expect new Chivas USA signing Dario Delgado to line up in the center of defence today partnering fellow Costa Rican Michael Umana.

*New New York signing Salou Ibrahim could see action today.

*A big concern for Chivas USA: Juan Pablo Angel.

*Finally, excellent weather conditions for soccer today in Carson – and no rain is expected.

*Also, veteran Zach Thornton could return in goal for the Goats today.

I plan to blog from the game so join me back here then.

In Galaxy-Dynamo news:

*Houston are out for revenge and hope to turn the lights out on the Galaxy.

*Despite the late kickoff, there are local viewing parties planned at the new Galaxy-designated official pubs.

Incidentally, I don’t plan to post anything here until after the game is over on tape-delay.
