Galaxy & Chivas USA Saturday gameday

Have there been bigger weekends than this in the careers of Chivas USA’s Sacha Kljestan, the Galaxy’s Edson Buddle and Rolling Hills Estates’ Robbie Rogers with U.S. Coach Bob Bradley to name a preliminary 30-player World Cup roster by Tuesday?

And arguably both the Galaxy and Chivas USA are involved today in the biggest games of their respective seasons.

The Galaxy face the Seattle Sounders and the best fans in the league at 1 p.m. on Telefutura and Fox Sports Net, while Chivas USA get a home test against the Houston Dynamo, consistently one of the league’s best teams, on Armed Forces Night.

Reporter Phil Collin sets up the two games here.

Meanwhile, the Sounders sound motivated for this one:

“We just look like we’re ready to explode and beat somebody, put some big numbers on the board,” goalkeeper Kasey Keller told the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. “It hasn’t quite happened yet. It just feels like it’s so close.”

Seattle’s focus? No prizes for guessing who that would be.

Meanwhile, Phil spoke to rookie, starter and now goalscorer Blair Gavin ahead of today’s Chivas USA game.

A big question for Chivas USA: Will striker Brian Ching return from injury tonight for the Dynamo?

Because, come to think of it, it could well be a big weekend for Ching’s World Cup chances, too.

I’ll blog from the game tonight in Carson.

Late change of plans: no live blogging from me this evening from Home Depot Center.
