The new away jersey will make its World Cup debut against England as the U.S. will wear the navy kit in their opening match. The away jersey is navy with a white sash and white trim on the round neck collar and a touch of red on the sleeves, while the home jersey is traditional white with a shadow-like gray sash, navy trim on the round neck collar and a touch of red on the sleeves. Designed by Nike with the national culture and identity of the U.S. in mind, the jersey echoes the uniform worn by the U.S. Men’s National Team during the 1950 FIFA World Cup in which they defeated England 1-0 in one of the biggest upsets in the history of soccer.
