“Pelada” screening in Long Beach Monday

“Pelada” tells the story of the sub-culture of soccer pick-up games throughout the world through the eyes of two former college stars.

The documentary follows the pair, Luke and Gwendolyn, as they play soccer with the likes of Bolivian prisoners and Kenyan moonshine brewers, Chinese freestylers and Iranian women.

The special screening is set for 11 a.m. Monday at The Art Theatre of Long Beach, 2025 E. 4th St.

The event includes a Q&A with directors Luke Boughen and Gwendolyn Oxenham.

Tickets are $10.
