Galaxy claim former UCLA goalkeeper Brian Perk off waivers

The rookie out of Rancho Santa Margarita was waived by the Philadelphia Union on Friday after being selected by the club in the fourth round (49th overall pick) of the draft.

From the Galaxy press release:

Perk did not appear in any MLS games for the Union, though he did play in the club’s recent friendlies against Celtic and Manchester United. He is expected to join the Galaxy in training for the first time on Friday and will be available for selection against Real Madrid on Saturday night at the Rose Bowl.

Perhaps the U.S. Under-20 international is seen a replacement for back-up Josh Saunders, who came in for some pointed criticism from Coach Bruce Arena after the 4-1 loss to the Puerto Rico Islanders last week.
