*In the Big West, UC Santa Barbara beat the Cal State Northridge women 1-0 at Harder Stadium, the Gauchos’ 11th win over the Matadors in their last 12 meetings.
*Sydney Leroux scored her seventh goal of the season in the 83rd minute as UCLA (8-3-1) downed No. 16 Cal 1-0 in the Pac-10 opener for both teams at Drake Stadium.*
*No. 20 USC (7-3-2) lost 2-1 to top-ranked Stanford before a crowd of 1,429 at the Coliseum.*
*Long Beach State (9-3-2) ran its unbeaten streak to six games with a 3-0 win over UC Riverside.
*Two goals in 74 seconds gave the LMU men a 3-1 win over visiting Gonzaga to equal the program’s best-ever conference start (3-0) and stretch its unbeaten streak to five games. Junior Fernando Barba scored twice for the Lions.
