Jonathan Bornstein has always been among the most approachable players in the league.

Modest, personable and honest, Bornstein always greets reporters with an easy grin whether Chivas USA has won or lost.

Bornstein has been a reliable contributor to MLS during his five years in the league and blossomed into an international class defender.

As he approaches the last two games of his career before moving to Mexico, I chatted with an accommodating Bornstein under gloomy South Bay skies Monday for today’s column, which also looks ahead (briefly) to Sunday’s final MLS and Galaxy game of the season at Home Depot Center, where the regular season title will be on the line (again).

I for one will miss his classy presence both on and off the Home Depot Center pitch.
