Saturday Soccer: The weekend starts now

*In the biggest game of the weekend, Manchester United visits storied Anfield to play Liverpool at 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Fox Soccer Channel. The place to be in LA for fans of the Red Devils: Santa Monica’s Ye Olde Kings Head Pub, 116 Santa Monica Blvd where the recently-formed Manchester United Supporters of Los Angeles meet for games.

*The LA Spurs Supporters Club gathers at 8 a.m. Sunday at Lucky Baldwins in Pasadena as Tottenham takes on Wolves.

*The local Glasgow Rangers supporters club meets at 4:30 a.m. Sunday at The Crest, 1625 Cabrillo Ave., in Old Torrance as the Blues play St. Mirren.

*At 7:30 p.m. Monday the “Galaxy Caravan – Countdown to Kickoff” begins a week-long series of events with a Galaxy-themed night at the Kings-Dallas Stars NHL game at Staples Center including a “ceremonial puck drop by a Galaxy player as well as Galaxy promotions and giveaways during timeouts and intermissions.” Mention the password Galaxy to get a $33 ticket offer on Ticketmaster.

Chivas USA striker Justin Braun returned for the first time in preseason since getting injured in the USMNT camp in January, but the club still had its issues up front in a 2-1 loss to UCLA Saturday night at Home Depot Center.
