*First off, new USL Pro team the Los Angeles Blues of Fullerton (ahem) plays a benefit game with proceeds going to the Red Cross at 6 p.m. Saturday at Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Stadium against what sounds like a makeshift team – the Orange County All-Stars. Details here.
*The Galaxy are at home against former Galaxy striker Carlos Ruiz and the undefeated Philadelphia Union with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Home Depot Center (live on Fox Sports West). More here.
Incidentally, the Galaxy Friday morning announced that tickets are 40 percent off for the game – as long as fans buy them by midnight.
*Chivas USA, sans veteran defender Jimmy Conrad (concussion), will play Toronto in a game that kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday on Prime. A viewing party is set for the Lucky Strike Lanes at Del Amo Fashion Center in Torrance. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
*We’re not done with international soccer yet this weekend. At noon Saturday the USWNT plays England in London in a game that will air on ESPN2.
Here’s a video preview from soggy England complete with team PR rep Aaron Heifetz apparently demoted to a “Daily Show” like “special correspondent” status for the occasion (they couldn’t get Brit John Oliver?):
Commentator Ian Darke will call the game, his second of the day; at 4:30 a.m. he’ll also call the West Ham United-Manchester United game from Upton Park also on ESPN2.
*The full list of televised games this weekend is at the Live Soccer TV link at top right, but don’t forget the weekend starts early at 4:30 p.m. today when the Columbus Crew meets Dallas on Fox Soccer Channel.
Other notable games this weekend include:
*The AC Milan-Inter Milan derby at 11:45 a.m. Saturday on FSC.
*Charlie Davies and D.C. United facing the Colorado Rapids at 4 p.m. Sunday (Galavision).
