MLS Soccer Saturday Gameday: Chivas at RSL, Galaxy host NYRB

Chivas USA plays today at Real Salt Lake (1 p.m. Telefutura)

*Phil Collin has a capsule preview here.

*The Utah media are naturally focusing on the return of former RSL Assistant Coach Robin Fraser.

“It will be an extremely challenging match for us,” Fraser said after Chivas USA notched their first win under the former Galaxy defender last weekend. “They are extremely technical, they are extremely composed and have a ton of experience.

“Most of the key components of that team have played together for about three years now and we’re going on three months. I’m very excited about where we are. This is as good a test as it gets because we feel like we’re starting to play well, but to go into Rio Tinto and play Real Salt lake after losing two games in a row I think that’s about as tall of a challenge as we’re going to find all season.”

The Galaxy host the Red Bulls tonight at Home Depot Center (8 o’clock ESPN2)

*Phil Collin has more on striker Juan Pablo Angel and his lack of goals so far this season.

*But will anyone on the East Coast be watching?

*More on the Galaxy’s game against the Red Bulls in New York last season is here.

*And Galaxy fans won’t want to see a repeat of last year’s performance against New York in Carson.

Here’s more from Angel, David Beckham, Landon Donovan, etc.:

Finally, Galaxy fans know what the brief Ruud Gullit reign cost the club. Here’s the answer to the question how much did it cost Gullit? Almost $1 million.
