Wednesday Kicks: Real Madrid in San Diego & more

*MLS confirmed this morning that the much-discussed Real Madrid-Chivas friendly at Qualcomm Stadium is a go with the date set for Wednesday, July 20 as expected. That gives Southern California fans two chances to see Cristiano Ronaldo et al; the Galaxy play in a previously-announced game against the Spanish powerhouse July 16 at the Coliseum.

Ticket details have yet to be announced for the San Diego game; individual tickets for the Galaxy-RM game have yet to go on sale.

*Following up on the previously reported Landon Donovan to Roma rumor, MLSSoccer.com has confirmed Roma’s new American owner is “obviously” looking everywhere for players, although “obviously” they’re not naming names , but “obviously” they’re targeting Americans. Obviously.

*The Galaxy will obviously learn most of their group opponents (pending the completion of the preliminary round games) when thedraw for the CONCACAF Champions League is made in New York today.

*The U.S. women play a second World Cup tune-up game against Japan at 4 p.m. today on ESPN2.
