Galaxy sign former Dallas defender Kyle Davies

The Oakland native was waived by Dallas May 5 and picked up by the Galaxy the next day.

He is eligible to play Saturday against Chivas USA after agreeing contract terms.

The 22-year-old started his pro career with England’s Southampton in 2007, was selected by Real Salt Lake in a weighted lottery in 2009 and was traded to Dallas less than two weeks later.

He made 10 starts for Dallas in 2009, but broke his arm in the 2010 season opener and missed the next six months through injury.

From the Galaxy:

A former U.S. Youth international, Davies was the captain for the U.S. Under-20 National Team at the 2009 FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt where he was a teammate of current Galaxy players Brian Perk and Michael Stephens. He also played for the U.S. Under-17 National Team and was a member of U.S. Soccer’s Residency Program, which he joined in August 2005.
