MLS in Vegas & more

| | Comments (4) |

*For most Southern Californians, Las Vegas is the road trip so local soccer fans would undoubtedly welcome an MLS team there. Turns out, so would MLS Commish Don Garber. Party on.

*United Soccer Leagues released a revised schedule for the LA Blues and USL pro in the wake of the early-season demise of three Puerto Rican clubs.

*Did anyone take note that the U.S. women beat Japan over the weekend?

*It's the Galaxy-Chivas USA derby this weekend (7 p.m. Saturday ESPN2), a game set up perfectly by the two clubs' excellent results this weekend (scroll down for video highlights and details). I'll have more on the game in Tuesday's column.

Dumbest idea that will sure offset the gains by expansion to the PNW. There is no soccer culture there and don't bring up the Quicksilvers of the old NASL which went belly up after a season. But then again playing in 100+ degree temperatures, even at night, in the summer months will sure be a big hit with the fans and players. S T U P I D

They will be fine when MLS goes to a traditional schedule.

The league could schedule blocks of away games during the worst of the weather.

If Dubai can promise A/C for stadiums, then why can't Vegas.... its Vegas Baby!!! VEGAS!!!

If there is one thing the people in Vegas have in common with MLS, it is understanding that breaking legs is part of doing business.

Don't hold your breath, the rest of the world will change their schedules before MLS ever will.

Maybe Qatar should donate one their proposed tear-down stadiums for the cause in Vegas as a compensation for stealing the world cup from us.
