Wednesday Kicks: Henry, Angel - and a ukulele

NYRBposter.jpgThe Galaxy's Juan Pablo Angel, David Beckham and Landon Donovan, and the Red Bulls' Dwayne De Rosario, Thierry Henry and Rafa Marquez should all be on the field Saturday in Carson as this promotional poster for the game suggests.

*The first 10,000 fans through the gates for the 8 p.m. Saturday game at Home Depot Center between the Galaxy and New York Red Bulls - which is expected to see Thierry Henry make his first-ever appearance in Carson - will receive this free poster. Henry missed last year's game against the Galaxy in Southern California with an injury and hadn't yet joined MLS when the Red Bulls played Chivas earlier in the season.

Notable: Despite closing in on two decades as a professional, 35-year-old Juan Pablo Angel is set to make a first-ever league game against a former club, according to fact-checkers with the Galaxy; "Prior to coming to MLS, Angel had played in Argentina , Colombia and England, but had never played for two teams in the same league."

*Meanwhile, Chivas USA is on the road this weekend against Real Salt Lake (1 p.m. Saturday Telefutura), which after two tough losses to Portland and Monterrey must be the MLS equivalent of a grizzly bear with a sore paw. Is this the best time for Chivas USA to face this club even if they do aspire to "greatness?"

*One local fan talks about his conversion to soccer.

*Finally, it's not just in midfield you can find former UCLA playmaker and now Philadelphia Union player Kyle Nakazawa of Palos Verdes Estates pulling strings; check out his ukulele proficiency:
