Wednesday Galaxy gameday at Portland Timbers

Another Galaxy road game, another MLS expansion team.

After disposing of the worst team in MLS by a four-goal margin without reply Saturday in Vancouver the Galaxy make their first-ever visit to Portland tonight to face the Timbers (live 7:30 p.m. ESPN2).

Notable: The Timbers have won just one of their last 10 MLS games; they haven’t won at Jeld-Wen Field since May 16.

Portland are marginally better than the Whitecaps – one place higher in the Western Conference, seven points and four wins better to be precise – but the capacity crowd at Jeld-Wen Field could be a tougher opponent than the 11 players on the field for a club closing in on another Supporters Shield.

With a win or tie in Portland the Galaxy would tie the club’s longest unbeaten streak – 14 games – that LA has achieved on two previous occasions.
