Weekend soccer rewind
If, like me, you were otherwise preoccupied this weekend, here's a quick recap of the MLS action to get you caught up:
*The Galaxy won (again), while Chivas USA lost (again)
*Here's the latest MLS standings.
*A D.C. United beat writer told me this weekend that Charlie Davies is "not the same player he was." Apparently, he's still good enough to rip Chivas USA apart, however:
How bad is Chivas USA's season going? According to Coach Robin Fraser, the latest showing was "as bad as it gets."
Watch:
*The Galaxy are in Mexico preparing for Tuesday's CONCACAF Champions League game against Morelia amid reports they've offered David Beckham a one-year contract extension.
Finally, the Galaxy announced over the weekend they will make a third trip to Australia in the last five years meeting Melbourne Victory Dec. 6 in Oz.

harsh red on Junior Lopez,
They are going to offer him an extension at his current salary????
Beckham is a fine player, but I just don't see how he is worth that much. He is only the third best midfielder on the Galaxy, how can he be worth the highest salary in the league? He is not going to add any more hype to the league.
I have to begrudgingly admit his original contract was worthwhile. He upped the profile of MLS like no one else did. I have to say Beckham's signing lead straight to Henry and Keane's signing. I don't think those players (and some who didn't end up coming) would have given MLS a second thought if Beckham hadn't agreed to play. MLS could do a lot worse than be a retirement league for the top European clubs.
