NCAA women's draw pits Long Beach against Pepperdine in first round

*Today's 64-team NCAA Tournament draw has immediately thrown up a Southern California coastal clash: Long Beach State against Pepperdine at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Malibu.

Long Beach qualified for the tournament for the third time in four years after beating 24th-ranked UC Irvine Sunday and winning the Big West.

The No. 8 Waves won a share of the West Coast Conference title to win a tournament berth for the first time since 2005.

Tickets are are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, students and children.

*UCLA (15-1-3) will host New Mexico (12-4-4) 7 p.m. Saturday at Drake Stadium; the winner plays San Diego or UC Irvine in the second round. The Bruins advanced to the round of 16 last year before falling to top-seeded Stanford.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for youth and students.

*Also, the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's team (12-5-2) will visit top-seeded Seattle Pacific Thursday in the NCAA West Regional.
