Easter Sunday Soccer: Death and Rebirth

OK, I’ll admit, the headline is a little over the top.

But it also seemed apt as the Galaxy’s prospects for the season continued to dim Saturday with a 1-0 road loss to Sporting Kansas City, while a reborn Chivas USA show more signs of life than they have in years with a second consecutive road win against the Timbers in Portland.

The Galaxy were still bad, but less bad.

Bunkered in, standard Arena “start with the defense” stuff. Offense only on counters, not unlucky not to have the first goal early on. Defense made fewer terrible mistakes, but got punished for the biggest one. One brilliant save from Saunders was nice to see.

They could improve to become an average team, or perhaps better.
