Thursday Kicks: Looking back on an “expletive” month & more

Three questions for Southern California soccer fans:

*What coach of an MLS club that will play at Home Depot Center Saturday night do you think this quote should be attribued to?

“There will come a time in the season when we look back on this month and say, ‘My God, that was a (expletive) month. How down we were and just frustrated with the results and the way the games went for us.’ “

I’m sure Galaxy fans hope Coach Bruce Arena said that. He didn’t.

*Who on the Galaxy defense was most responsible for the team conceding Kei Kamara’s goal in Sporting’s 1-0 win last weekend?

Hint: this wasn’t mainly a center back issue:

Finally, how many soccer games will be played at Home Depot Center this weekend before a paying audience? Turns out there’s more than just Saturday’s Galaxy-Timbers tilt even if many of us (especially in the English language media apparently) have heard virtually nothing about it:

i’m breaking my vows and ending my self-imposed exile at least until the next ill advised homage to Xolos here.

The main reason for my return is to voice my continued and long standing dissatisfaction with Sean Franklin’s defensive capabilities. Mr. Own Goal as I call him cannot read the game if his life depended on it. He is single handedly responsible for 3 or 4 goals let in so far this season and he had an unmemorable season last year with 3 or 4 own goals and numerous half clearance and giveaways that led to more goals against LA. The best spells he enjoyed last year were in the midfield when his speed and decent crosses were utilized effectively. He is a converted attacker who unlike Omar never rose above his rookie season.

I feel sorry for AJ and who ever he partners with to be flanked by Franklin and less than effective Dunivant season. I’m extremely angry with Bruce Allmighty and company for not realizing and addressing the teams obvious shortcomings and for pissing away the CCL by loaning out the arrogant Keane and Donovan just to recoup some salary money. Shame on the lot of them.
