Chivas USA Friday Gameday: Ineffective offense meets leaky Chicago Fire defense in Carson

Here’s one guy you won’t see on the sidelines of Home Depot Center (and certainly not in this hideous 1996 jersey): Chicago Fire Coach Frank Klopas is suspended for this game (live at 8 p.m. on ESPN Deportes).

Here’s a game preview from a Chicago perspective.

The question arises after reading that: Do the Fire really need to worry about their defense given that Chivas have not only failed to win yet at home, they haven’t even scored a goal?

Moreover, the Fire haven’t lost any of their last eight games to Chivas USA, the longest current unbeaten streak against any MLS team.

Chivas Coach Robin Fraser undoubtedly senses the opportunity here, however, to add to the Fire’s recent woes at the back.

He’d better: Fraser is under a little pressure of his own these days.

For what it’s worth, forward Juan Pablo Angel has scored 6 goals in 13 games against the Fire, while midfielder Nick LaBrocca has scored in his last two games against Chicago, so there’s hope.

Here’s a preview of tonight’s game and other weekend MLS action:
