A Special Father’s Day Shutout for LA’s Saunders as Galaxy finally win

Galaxy 1 Portland Timbers 0

It was a game the Galaxy needed to win to win at home for their self-belief, against a struggling oppponent after a lengthy period of enforced reflection. And they duly did.

*Staff Writer Phil Collin explains the significance of the win for goalkeeper Josh Saunders – for more than one reason.

No one is throwing any parties yet:

Still, doesn’t this look better?

Next for the Galaxy: at Real Salt Lake Wednesday, then back home Saturday in Carson to face the Vancouver Whitecaps.

So Saunders definitely added a little confidence boost and there some good and some not so good performances. Like… Marcelo Servas was great, I really think he needs to be in the team more, worked tirelessly provided great inspiration.
Junior, he was awful didn’t rate him before the accident, don’t rate him now.
Barrett another one, how he gets to play in MLS is beyond me, he must be the worst player in the league.
Beckham was great, hard working did well I just really wish he’d stop the constant yapping at the officials, it makes him look bad.
Donavon, wait I think he was subbed off right after he hit the post, no wait he blocked the GK for an assist!
Franklin was good it’s a shame he can’t add a finish to his otherwise excellent play.
Dunivant looked a little more like last years model.
Jordan huffed and puffed but achieved very little.
    AJ ditto Dunivant

It’s a little more encouraging but Portland looked horrible, I fancy RSL would have done to us what they did to the Goats. Still I think we can make a playoff run if we make it.

    Forgot to ask!
Nick what’s the word on Andy Iro? Is he joining?

    A
BTW I like the look of your new manager more than mine, who the heck is Steve Clark?

  • Inigo Montoya

Better. Still not good. RSL will feast.

Iro is no longer training with the team, Galaxy officials said today.

BTW, Steve Clarke (with an “e”) is a former Chelsea player who was coach at Liverpool before Kenny Dalglish got fired…
