Galaxy-Real Madrid ticket update

The Galaxy don’t return to domestic action until June 17, but more than 13,500 tickets for the Real Madrid exhibition Aug. 2 at Home Depot Center have been sold, the MLS club has announced.

The team reported May 30 that the upper deck at the Carson stadium is sold out and inventory in the general admission sections behind the goals are “extremely limited.”

Still, the stadium seats up to 27,000 when the grass berms are sold out and held more than 30,000 when temporary stands were erected for last year’s MLS Cup.

Tickets start at $85 for GA seating and rise to $220 for a “preferred” sideline seat. Call 1-877-3GALAXY.

In related ticket news, the San Jose Earthquakes today announced they have sold over 35,000 tickets for their June 30 game at Stanford Stadium against the Galaxy.

The Earthquakes are aiming to set a new club record for single-game attendance at a non-doubleheader match,” the club announced. San Jose drew 41,028 last July for a 2-2 tie against the New York Red Bulls at the same venue.

Lower bowl sideline seats and director’s level seats are already sold out, but tickets remain in the upper deck and end zones.

“There are so many intriguing storylines with this match,” Earthquakes President Dave Kaval said. “You have one of the best rivalries in the league in the California Clasico, the fireworks extravaganza, an amazing halftime show and we’re honoring the United State Armed Forces. This game is the sporting event of the summer in the Bay Area.”

Which also reminds me that the Galaxy and Dodgers have teamed up to offer fans ticket offers for games involving both teams. More here.
