MLS: A bunch of LA Galaxy Dummies Beats Seattle

Western Conference Final: LA Galaxy 3 Sounders 0

Staff Writer Phil Collin has the game story.

The Seattle perspective is considerably gloomier.

Notable: (to update an OptaJack Tweet from just before Sunday’s game): Robbie Keane and Mike Magee combined have scored 10 of the Galaxy’s last 12 goals.

Quotable: “Next week they’ll have Eddie [Johnson] from the start, my guess is they’ll have Rosales from the start and they’re a much different team at home than they are on the road,” said Galaxy playmaker Landon Donovan. “They beat us 4-0 earlier in the year and there’s no reason why they can’t do that again so we’ve got to be prepared.”

I’ll have more on the game and playoff series in Tuesday’s column.

Fact: The Galaxy could and should have scored more.
Fact: Sounders have already beat the Galaxy 4-0 so they know they can do it but this might be to the Galaxy’s advantage because they will be a little more concerned about the possibility of giving up four again.
Fact: having the odds stacked against you in the second leg gives you a ‘we have nothing to lose’ mindset and can help your confidence. Just look at the Gals in San Jose!

It’s going to be a very intriguing second leg.
