MLS Works in Carson, Toys & Trophies at LA Live

The Galaxy will install a new sports court next month at the Carson Boys & Girls Club for year-round play of soccer, hockey and other activities (Photo by Staff Photographer Steve McCrank).

It’s part of an annual MLS Cup donation to children’s groups and schools in conjunction with MLS Works, the league’s charitable arm. Galaxy players (Landon Donovan, Edson Buddle, A.J. DeLaGarza, Omar Gonzalez, Todd Dunivant, Mike Magee and Sean Franklin) and club officials including Tim Leiweke, who heads up parent company Anschutz Entertainment Group, were on hand for the Wednesday event.

Galaxy star Landon Donovan prepares to be grilled by a couple of kids at the club (whatever you do don’t ask him about potential retirement, kids; he gets kind of touchy about it).

Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday at the J.W. Marriott lobby adjacent-hotel mixing room, 900 W. Olympic Blvd., at LA Live the three Galaxy MLS Cups from 2002, 2005 and 2011, the three Lakers NBA Championship trophies from 2002, 2005 and 2011 and the lone Kings Stanley Cup won this year will be on display for fans to take photos with.

Bring a toy.
